I'm not trying to come off as insecure but I am in the process of applying for away rotations and kinda dont know **** at this point. Alot of poeple on here say away rotations are important. I'm from philly and would like to stay in the area. would I be competitive with a 236/99 for philly programs or should I be rotating at places in other cities as well. Also I did better on Comlex 623 should that help me?

I have 2 publications in ortho/ basic sciences and decent MS1-2 grades. mostly low to mid 90's except OMM.

I'm not looking to go to hopkins or anything, but do you think I have a decent shot for philly?

I don't know much about anesthesiology programs...but I can draw some conclusions from looking at the recent match lists...

DO's (and PCOM'ers in particular) seem to do quite well w/ matching into the Philly Anest. programs. If I remember correctly...5 placed at Jeff last year alone w/ 1 or 2 at Temple and I'm pretty sure there were at least 3 at Temple this year.

Btw...congrats on the board scores....our class seems to have done really well from what I've heard.... I know of a bunch of 99's on the USMLE in addition to solid COMLEX scores

You can pull hopkins with that app.

The PD at Temple is a D.O. I can't image you'd have trouble getting in there with that app.

i'll be a CA-1 at hopkins in 2008, i'm a DO, and my scores were lower than yours. hopkins is actually DO friendly for gas - you should rotate there if you can.

as far as philly - TJU, temple, drexel for sure. penn, not so much. but worth applying, you might get lucky.

I am D.O. and am currently a CA-3 at UPenn. There are three other D.O.'s in my CA-3 class, and 1-2 D.O.'s in both the CA-1 and CA-2 classes. I think you will find that all of the Philly programs are DO-friendly. It sounds like you have an excellent application. Definitely apply to all of the Philly programs; I don't think you will have a problem matching at any of them. Feel free to get in P.M. me if you want any more info about the Philly programs, especially UPenn.
