I would be interested to see the answers from the dental board for this question. I don't think you're going to get the greatest insight on the pre-dent board.

I've been told that while there has already been a very quick upturn in technology in the field, we're on the verge of some real BOOM times. I'm a little out of my league to start elaborating, but it made sense when I heard it.
