Just out of curiosity, to see if anybody is in the same boat as me.

I just got home from work today, and found a message on my answering machine. Some admission lady from University of Washington - Seattle, calling for me and asked me to call her back. Well it's friday night, and I tried to call her back, but of course now it's too late so I just left a voicemail saying that my cell phone would be a better way to get a hold of me. (Since i'm barely ever home)

But now I'm really puzzled at what she wanted from me??? I haven't received an interview invitation from them yet, and I feel that at this point in time, it's kind of late. So, I'm thinking that if I haven't been invited to interview by now, that means I didn't make the cut. So now, why would she call me??? And why calling??? I think emails, or even regular mail is much more official or "concrete" if that's the word.

Anyway, so I guess i'm just wondering if anybody else got a phone call recently from UW - Seattle. And what did they want? Also, are they still interviewing??

Yes, UW is still interviewing. You probably received a message from Kari. I got mine on Thursday morning and confirmed with them on Friday. They are interviewing four in the morning and four in the afternoon...I think on Tues, Wed, and Fridays? It is late, but it doesn't hurt to go...unless you have been accepted at your preferred school.

No worries....just call on Monday morning and they'll ask you when is the best time for you to come....

hmmm.... you mean interviewing for next week?? I'm from Southern California, so I'll need more time to find a plane ticket. And I still got school/work. I'm interested in UW, but I already got into Mercer, and waitlisted for USC. In my mind, it was now only a decision between if I get accepted into USC, I'll go there, and if not, I'll go to Mercer. Now, I got to factor in another possibility? Hmmm...

No worries...they will ask you where you are from and when you are available to interview. I chose to go during my spring break (which is now less than 2 weeks from now)....So you should have at least two-three weeks to prepare. Hopefully, you can buy a ticket through southwest....that's the cheapest airline I could find ($69-79 each way).

cool, thank you for everybody's replies. At first, I was really confused as to why UW called me (as opposed to email/regular mail). But I guess most people here received interview invitations by phone?

I thought I was done with the interviews, and was just thinking of sitting around and waiting for letters (acceptance or denial). Guess now I gotta go back into "interview mode". ~sigh~ it makes me all excited and tired all at the same time.

The more I think about it, the more I'm getting excited about UW. Thanks everyone!

Yep, it was by phone. The message just said, "We need to talk to you about your application." Doh - now what!?, I thought. But it was an interview invitation. So, no worries. Kari is a really nice person, you'll like her. Actually everyone at UW was nice. Several students stopped by to chat with us while we were waiting to interview.

hey dreaminpharmd,

when is your interview date?? I called kari back and confirmed mine for tuesday afternoon. Looking forward to checking out UW, though since it was such a short notice, it's been a pain trying to rearrange my schedule around it. but hey who knows, this might be for the next four years in my life! =P

Hey boobash,

I'm scheduled for 4/14-9:45 am interview. I chose this date because it gave me enough time to find a flight and place to stay. I'll be sitting around for about an hour waiting to be interviewed...And the student tour is not until 12:30pm. I'm not sure if I should stick around for it or just give myself a tour (don't want to tour in my 2 inch heels...eek!).

Good luck!

oh yeah i know... i feel so bummed out when i think about the cost of my plane tickets. I really wanted that friday interview like you have, but my only choices were tuesday (morning or afternoon), wed (morning or afternoon), or thursday or the following monday (morning only). So tuesday afternoon was the only "feasible" day where i would miss my "lesser" important classes.

how much were your plane tickets? i still haven't bought mine yet, but it looks like it's going to cost a little under $450 from Orange County to SEA. When I first checked plane tickets monday morning right after I talked to Kari, I found one for about $290, but I was still hesitant. Now it's jumped up to $450 and above! ~sigh~

btw, I also read that you got accepted to midwestern. (congratulations) just curious though, I suppose since you accepted to interview at UW too, then does that mean that you would consider going to UW instead of midwestern, if accepted? or is your mind pretty much set on midwestern, but you just wanted to check out UW just for kicks.

Ouch! Don't you have miles that you can use for you last minute trip? Maybe you can find last minute airfares....I considered having my sister transfer all her united miles, but the surcharges were ridiculous (transfer 1 mile = $0.01, $30 transaction fee, so 16000 miles = $160 + $30, = $190). Anyways, I paid $168 on southwest, but I am heading north a couple days earlier (Wednesday...laying over for 2hrs in Reno...yay). I've never been to Seattle, so I am spending half of my Spring Break up there. Found a hotel 2 blocks away from UW and offers a shuttle to the med center.

I am very interested in UW because I think it offers everything I am looking for in a pharmacy school (reputation, location, and research). On the other hand, I would also go to MWU because I also thought it was great there (nurturing, great campus, location seems good, etc), but no research. I probably wouldn't have time to do such a thing anyways. Like you, I am waiting for USC as well (outlook doesn't look good for me) and I have been waitlisted at Western. So, I have ranked the schools personally based on my preference in attendance...but I have been telling my friends and family that I'll probably will be heading east (it is closer to my boyfriend--he's going to NY and MD).

Good luck on your interview! :luck: I am already freaking out over it! 😱
