Phone Calls from Programs?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got emails form a couple programs, but thats it.

I have received 2 letters and 2 emails. No calls.

Just took COMLEX II today, that sucked.

Later.

I would like to know if you have written to PD's about your interest and they haven't written back, what does that mean? Does that mean that they are too busy or they are not interested in you?

I doubt many PDs will keep a mail writing correspondence with you. It is too time consuming. They may send a thank you letter after you interview, but not much more, even if they like you. I am sure they are getting 20-30 letters around this time of year from applicants. They prob. can not respond to all. I wouldn't worry. My letters and email were thank yous. Some were personalized, some were general. Don't sweat it. Just rank, certify, pray, celebrate (in that order) 🙂

Would anyone know what is the cut off number for ranking applicants? For example, if a program interviews 100, do they rank all 100 or do they rank 50, 40, etc. Holla back if anyone knows..

depends on size of program and the PD. Obviously, if they rank too few, they may not fill. 100 sounds like a lot to me - probably more like 50 -60 at large programs and 20-30 at smaller programs.

I know many PM&R programs now typically don't have to go down too low on their lists. For example, JFK filled all 4 of their spots within their top 10 candidates.

hope this helps.

do any of the top 5 or 10 residency programs ever call applicants to tell them that they will be ranking them etc... If any of last year's application class/current residents could comment on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
NF 👍

I don't know what you consider top 5-10 but I did get handwritten cards/letters from several PDs near rank list time and right after interviews. Some PDs just told me to write them a letter near rank list time to let them know that they were my top choice.

If you want specifics, PM me.

Hey, I interviewed at all those programs (UW, Spaulding and RIC) and haven't received a phone call from any. A letter from one of them. Also, not sure if they told you while you were at UW but the PD said that they don't send letters or do all that stuff. That was just an FYI to us so that we didn't wonder. Not sure if that makes you feel better.
