I don't think so. I did mine myself (a friend took the picture 😀 ) and nobody complained. 😀

nope..

someone took a picture of me with my friends...then i just had another friend edit me out, and put in a 'professional' background...and it seemed to work nicely...

I cut mine out of a regular size picture. The edges weren't even straight. I still got an interview.

Honestly, I don't think you even need to send in photos if you want. I never got around to sending them to the schools that I applied to that required them (nyu, boston, meharry). I received acceptances to nyu, meharry, and I cancelled a post dec 1 interview to boston. Definatley don't waste your money and go to a professional studio, the picture carries no weight.

i just sent in my best keg-stand photo -- nobody seemed to mind

Woah. We have to send in our photos with our applications?

Some schools require photos and others don't. Read your supplementals and FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.

Very true. Some schools have a secondary with a place to attach your picture. While others like UCLA that don't need a pic at all. I sent one aling with my secondary (just because I made enough, though I looked good, so i sent it to everybody) but when I stopped by the office, Noemi asked if I wanted it back becuase they don't look at them. In fact it was turned over and taped to my application so nobody would see it.

As far as the pic itself, my friend took it outside. I wore a suit and looked groomed, I think it turned out well 🙂

I sent in some leftover passport pictures when I was like 16. No one complained....so I don' think it's that big of a deal. As long as they know kind of what you look like. 😉

nah, they don't need to be professional. They just want to remember you after the interview because they have so many applicants. Just find a good picture of yourself (even if it's in a group-you can crop it so it only includes you), and get copies made at walgreens or something.
