Phy I at CC and Phy II at 4 yr. Univ.????

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is this a good idea to do Phy I at CC and Phy II at 4 yr Univ? or Cal I at CC and Cal II at 4 yr Univ?

You can take as many CC pre-req's as you want if you haven't transferred to a university yet. If you have transferred and have chosen to take a CC course while at that university it shows that you can't handle university level work. It's a big red flag.

the thing is, i am Super Non traditional student, so I have to be as competitive as possible.

The reason why I ask this question is, would I have some sort of issues with taking whatever the course ' I ' at one school and ' II ' at another school in terms of being able to do well? Could one institution cover different materials in level ' I ', and another institution expect you to know completely another material in level ' II '?

I don't feel like physics II builds on physics I very much. You should be fine.

I think it's best to do them both at the same school. There might be some topics that the CC teaches in Physics II, but the uni teaches in Physics I, that you wind up never learning. Even if the topics don't build on each other you'll want to learn both for the MCAT. You could always teach yourself the missed topics if necessary, it's just easier if you learn it in a class.

ahh.. shoot,,,

Well,, this is my situation,

Due to the fact that i have to work a lot this summer to save some money and move at least a month before I start school full time in the fall, I can only take one of the following classes.

Calculus I, Chemistry I or Physics I

1) Which one of these courses will least likely affect my prerequisite education at 4 yr Univ? I am planning on taking Statistic and Calculus II as well later on. If you guys say Calculus I, I will have to end up taking Organic I and II over the following summer 🙁 and I will end up having to do three lab classes in the coming Spring semester (Bio II, Phy I and Chem II)

2) do you think its ok to break up my 1 year of Organic Chemistry into Org Chem I in the Spring and Org. chem II the following Fall?

3) Would I be alright to take one of the prerequisite classes during the summer I apply to med school?

Thank you so much for all your help!

why don't you take stats over the summer instead? The pre-req for that shouldn't be anything higher than pre-calc.

well,, thats an somewhat of an easy course, so maybe I thought should take it when I am taking org chem or biochem

I'd rather take a math course over the summer than a prereq, but it's up to you

actually that is a good idea,,, even though if it means that I will have to take 3 lab classes for two semesters?

Stat is also a prerequisite at UCI

Thanks Jollie
