My TiVo recorded a show called, "1,000 Ways to Die" on Spike TV, instead of some Ultimate Fighting show. Decided to watch it and came across a "way to die" by falling into a huge tub of HCl. For the medical expert, they had "Dr. Khyber Zaffarkhan - Physical Medicine & Rehab".

Haha. Don't know how we're experts in that. He basically just said the guy would have had extreme pain and went into shock from a total body burn.
Regardless, it's at least more public exposure of Physiatry 👍

I googled Khyber and it looks like he's a Physiatrist at Tufts New England Medical Center.

Khyber is a resident at UCLA. Axm397 and I know him fairly well. I met him once at my fellowship. He is a cool guy. He told me that "1000 ways to die" is a moonlighting job for him. I wish that I had that as a moonlighting position! I think with burn injuries, we can and should be experts in that. In most residencies, a lot of us have experience in burn rehab. I enjoyed working with the burn unit during residency.

That is the 2nd UCLA PM&R resident that I have seen on TV recently. There was one on American Gladiators, as a contestant. She lost to the eventual champion.

I think it's the LA location.

You saying there aren't many television production opportunities for Vlad in Fort Wayne? Maybe you can find an exercise/wt loss pill to endorse Vlad. 🙂

Well I have always wanted my own cooking show on Food Network. Keeping with the pain management concept, I would call the show "Dr. Feelgood!"

Vlad, im on TV in Ft. Wayne. Look for my commercial for centers for pain relief. Its on during the news at 6 and 10 on all local stations.

Fortin doesn't want to drop any $$$ for TV ads?

LOL

Yeah, I have been hearing your name around Ft. Wayne. Congrats! Fort Wayne is a good place to practice as a physician. Fortin isn't into TV ads. You know that Pain Management Associates in Ft. Wayne are also on TV. My name was on radio on of the oldie stations in FW when we moved locations over the fall.

Khyber is doing great -- he is practicing at Fullerton Orthopedics and is well-respected among colleagues. I laugh at the "experts" used on reality shows, too, but Khyber has bona fide credentials.

Khyber is not the real deal. I looked him up. Kind of deceiving credentials. States he is a pain management & rehab specialist. We all know there is no such thing. Is he trying to confuse PM&R (physical medicine & rehab) with Pain management and rehab. Deceiving! Also, he states he did a pain management residency at Weiss Memorial, which there is no such thing. The only pain mangement training available is fellowship programs. He then states he did a fellowship at UCLA VA, which he probably did a legitimate PM&R residency, but probably hopes to confuse people that he did a pain fellowship or something, which the UCLA VA has. Then he states he is board certified in pain, but the only board certificate he has is in PM&R. He then did a bogus fellowship, non ACGME accredited at Portner Honolulu, which is horrible training with no standard or oversight and the only board you can sit for is a non ACGME certificate with the bogus American board of pain medicine. It's not accepted in almost all states as official board certification in pain medicine. I have no issue with PM&R docs doing pain just as long as they do a ACGME pain fellowship. I think these are fraudulent credentials...or at least propaganda smoke and mirrors...don't you?

😎 wow, you registered for this forum to resurect a zombie thread?

yeah, saw this thread randomly and looked him up and it bothered me too much to let it go.

wow, He went away right around the time I came on this board. Good pickup.

I guess it means I'm big time if Pain Defender/Defrauder bothered to sign up just spread word about me. Thanks for the notoriety, brother! Keeps me high up on the Google hits... I got 5 new patients this week just because of you...

If you don't mind, can you show me where these "credentials" are located? I did go to Weiss and UCLA and Portner... for Intern year, residency and fellowship respectively. The information you got seems a little out of order so I would like to correct it... And not that I have to defend a non-ACGME residency because I am sure Slipman, RIC, Furman, Depalma and of the like don't have to either, but if I learned kypho's, pumps and stims from my esteemed colleges during residency and wanted my fellowship to teach me more about billing and coding, workman's comp and medico-legal, would you please recommend a better fellowship? Besides, I co-surgeon a lot with my ortho/spine surgeon partners so they make sure I drop my knots fast and tight...

BTW, 2-0 FiberWire, 1/3 bumpy anchor and silicone adhesive off of a 22-angiocath is fantastic!
