Hey guys...

I start med school in Aug but will be doing some shadowing this summer. At our school, we see patients about three weeks after our first day of class...so we have patient contact very early on.

I've shadowed this doctor before and am hoping that she'll allow me to start working on my physical exam...even if it is just auscultating. Does anyone know any good internet resources that explains PE on a fundamental level?

Thanks!

A suggestion for a good internet resource on the physical exam: Go to the Amazon.com page that sells Bates's Physical Diagnosis, and order the book. Classic physical exam findings and techniques, very much worth the $40 or however much it costs. Much more info than any web site out there. My edition even came with a heart sounds CD.

get a good PE book, Macleod's, Talley's, and also a PE atlas
and then, compile them all together into one long list for every system, and always start from observation, hands all the way down
The main systems which start from hands onwards are: CVS, Respi, GI
The rest are bits and pieces here and there

Wow...great sites! Thanks! 👍
