  1. Pre-Physical Therapy
Hi, I'm a Pre-PT student and wanted to learn more about current issues about PT. I have read that therapists are seeing a decline in reimbursements due to the Affordable Care Act. Can someone explain what this means and how this effects physical therapists? Thanks!

Could you also make it 500 words, double spaced, and email it to my professor by 7? Thanks

There's no need to be rude to someone who is just trying to get help understanding something that isn't clear to them. That's what this website is for.

It was a joke- but if you would like I could just be a robot like most of the other posts telling people to go to the cheapest school they get into, trashing other people's decisions when they don't do that, or bursting people's bubbles about salary expectations.

You're not very funny. I'm here to get actual insight on the field. This is something I'm dedicating the rest of my life to and I'm trying to learn as much as I can in physical therapy. I have already been accepted to schools and want to have a better understanding of our current issues and want to hear insight from other people who may know about this issue better than I do. Also, I don't know what you're talking about "telling people to go to the cheapest school" because I'm not even asking that. This is a topic discussing how the ACA has actually effected practicing PT's, we're not talking even about school debt. I wonder why you're even in this field if you're not down to help people, especially others in this field. I just know that when I'm a PT, I'm going to do everything I can to help pre-PT students and volunteers because I know what they're going through, but it appears you aren't willing to, you're just going to be saying "jokes."

APA format, please.

@TheNeptune , I would check this out: http://www.evidenceinmotion.com/blo...issidents-in-physicaltherapy-and-its-working/

That could help illustrate some things. It is definitely a complex issue and controversial issue. I am not sure how much the ACA has to do with it but I do know that as a PT I have to be very careful with my documentation as far as justifying the need for skilled PT otherwise the insurance company can just say they are going to deny payment! I have heard my former professors talk about the "golden days" when PTs could bill pretty much anything they wanted, now not so much. Especially with medicare for example..there are tons of rules you have to follow just to treat medicare patients which can make things annoying and cumbersome in the clinic.

Chill out and take a deep breath.
