Hey everyone. Is a physician LOR required? I looked through previous threads and it some people seem to think that a letter doesn't mean much simply because it's just shadowing, and not long term research, work experience, etc. Maybe I haven't looked at enough med school websites, but the ones I have looked don't mention it. I have two science, one non science, and one PI letter. Should I get another one and which one would be looked at most favorably by an adcomm? They will all likely beable to write about me favorably or very favorably.

My options for a fifth are either:

1. TA I've had two classes with whom I've also worked for in a lab for about 1 year (she asked me to do research with her)

2. A work reference from boss- I tutored OChem and Chem(undergrad), my boss offered to write me one

3. The nurse at the hospital I volunteer at who coordinates the volunteer program(pre-operating room volunteering)

I don't have any physicians that I feel comfortable asking for LOR. What are your thoughts?

I didn't have any physician letters. I don't think it's mandatory. I would think a prof would be better than a TA though.
