Physics 2 question

How important would it be to complete the second physics before taking the MCAT? I'm completing physics 1 now and I plan to complete physics 2 before graduating of course, but taking it after the MCAT would work way better for me. If it's necessary to take before I'll try and make it work though. I guess it depends on how deep into physics the MCAT goes.

Yes. Electricity and magnetism are tested on the MCAT, and they are often very non-intuitive concepts, which -- in my mind -- need some facilitation to learn, properly.

Physics , in MY opinion, was the most heavily tested subject matter on the chem./phys. section of MY MCAT. So, I would say take it for sure.

In my experience with the MCAT, the best classes to have taken prior to taking it were/would have been, Gen Chem, O-chem, Bio chem, Bio (including Micro, Cell, and Immuno), and other Psych and Sociology classes for the new MCAT.

I might be forgetting some, but for me, personally, Physics and Micro were lifesavers when taking it!

An understanding of physics also helps during the basic sciences portion of med school.

I took the MCAT prior to taking physics 2 and scored a 9 (old test) on the physical sciences section. There were quite a few questions on circuits that really stumped me. I have no doubt that I would have done better had I completed physics 2 before the MCAT. My advice is to take it and be prepared !

I took the new MCAT and it had only one question (well it was a group of several questions focused only on one topic) on Physics, and it was all Physics I. There were TONS of Biochem questions and the gen chem, o-chem, and biology questions were heavily biochem related. One chem question could have arguably been a Physics 2 question but we didn't cover that chapter (one of those at the end of the book ones) in physics because it was very very chemistry 2. I wish that there would have been more physics, as those classes were actually fun. So you just never know what questions may be chosen.

Definitely take Biochem! and unless you have a really really darn good reason all the rest for the best score!

#1 mistake people make on the MCAT is taking it when they aren't ready. Don't make that mistake and then regret it later. Why would you take an exam that may test you on subjects you haven't learned? You would have to have a really good reason that was more important than doing the best you possibly could... I can't think of one.
