guys, I was wondering if physics counts as a science LOR? A friend told me only biology/biomedical/bioeningeering and chemistry counts as science letters.

If it counts as a BCPM class, I would think it would count as a Science letter.

Your friend is misleading you; physics absolutely counts. If anything on that list is at risk for not counting, it's the engineering. That's where you could potentially run into trouble.

Well, I was always under the assumption that physics was some form of voodoo or black magic so your friend may be on to something. However, "academia" insists on referring to this devilish subject as a science...

One serious caveat though, while this would obviously count as a science LOR, individual schools do at times require the letter to be from a certain discipline such as biology, biochemistry, etc...

I agree--physics definitely counts (I know tons of people who used our physics teacher as a reference) and I'm also pretty sure engineering doesn't count.

OP--the majority of engineering courses don't count towards your BCPM grade, so there is a good chance some/many or even most schools won't accept a LOR from an engineering prof as a science letter.

It would probably be a good idea to contact the schools you are applying to find out if they will accept an engineering prof's LOR as a science letter, as if there is even one school you want to apply to that doesn't, you will want to make sure you still have enough science letters. Of course, you could use an engineering professor's letter towards the non-science LORS, unless the school requests a humanities LOR.
