So I have NEVER taken physics in my life. Not even High school.
Right now I'm taking it for the first time and it's SO FAST. I'm freaking out even though it's been the first two weeks of school..

Any tips on how to approach studying?

I think I'm going to go over Khan's Academy on youtube first and then I don't know..lots of Office hours?

PLEASE HELP!🙁

The best way is to derive the formulas yourself. No one listens when I tell them this, but it's the truth. If you know how to derive every formula, you can do every problem.

physics was tough for me too. take your time, do the HW and read the book. talk to the professor and go to tutoring. but most importantly, never give up and believe in yourself!

Read the chapters multiple times until you understand every point they are making (even if you do not understand anything the first time, by the time you read it for the third time things will start making allot of sense). Once you understand everything you will be ready to do whatever problems they are assigning you.

Practice questions over and over. Whatever the teacher puts on the test should not be that different than your practice questions (hopefully).

I just took physics this summer, each semester condensed into 4 weeks. The key is to do the homework! If you don't have homework, assign it to yourself from problems in the book. Any time you can't figure it out, go to office hours. Keep up with it so you're not trying to cram it all in the days before the test, some concepts need time to percolate in your brain. Does your course use the MasteringPhysics website? That was invaluable to me, and there is a digital solution manual that can help when you get stuck.

You have to do the homework and practice. IMO it depends on the lecture professor. My professor was really good and understood it because of the examples she provided along with the derivations she provided. We also had recitation 2 times a week with TA's which made it really easy. I got a B+ in Physics 1a and Physics 1b(as an engineer we go indepth in physics so we gotta have 4 semesters of physics). Just practice all the problems and think about it logically and in real life situations.

Physics is tough. Either you get it or you don't. But you can still get A's even if you don't. Just do a lot of practice problems.

Oh man, I feel your pain 🙁 I'm taking physics currently as well. It's by far my least favorite class. Physics just doesn't seem to come to me as naturally and bio or chem as so far. I'm planning on doing my assigned hw over and over until I understand as much as I can, and also getting a tutor.

Also, just an aside, from what I've gathered, dental schools kinda care less about physics grades than they do about other science classes? And physics is NOT covered on the DAT?

I got an A in physics 1 and a B in physics 2 after getting an F in it the first time, because I couldn't care enough to go to class. I hate physics with a passion soooo good luck!
