I was wondering what level of physics you guys all took....I took physics 1 last semester and got a d+ 😡 but its my own fault...never tried any practice problems and went in with the attitude that I couldn't do it. I know I will have to retake it, but was thinking about taking the physics that is a level lower than the one I took before. Would this look bad?

This is the description of the one I was planning on taking:
Applied Physics 1
Credits: 3; Prereq: algebra and trigonometry.
Emphasizes the practical applications of basic physics to a wide range of professions including architecture, agricultural sciences, building construction, and forest resources. Mechanics of motion, forces, energy, momentum, wave motion, and heat. (P)

The one I took last semester was
Physics 1
Credits: 4; Prereq: high school algebra and trigonometry, or equivalent. First semester of introductory physics de-emphasizing calculus. Structure and properties of matter; kinematics, dynamics and statics; momentum and energy; rotation, elasticity; vibration; fluids; temperature and expansion, heat transfer, thermal behavior of gases; wave motion and sound. (P)

BUT...dental schools dont really see the description..just the class name..so..think it would be ok to take the lower level one?

Yes you are right about them not really paying attention to the name of the course as long as it has the "Physics I" part. However, maybe you should run it by the schools you are planning on applying to because you never know. You don't want to get screwed having to take Physics I twice.

are you a science major? I go to UF also, and if u are, you may need to take "physics 1" (not without calc), it may not be needed for dental schools, but the major may req it.

Anyone have experience with a school waiving the Physics II requirement if you havent taken if but have been accepted to dental school?

I would think that they might waive it. I think I actually heard of it. However, it probably depends on how well you did in Physics I and if you could possibly get a rec from that professor saying that you excell in physics. I would call the school directly and see if not taking Physics II would pose a problem. Good Luck!
