A car is traveling up a hill that is inclined at an angle θ above the horizontal. Determine the ratio of the magnitude of the normal force to the weight of the car when θ = 39o.


I got 1.28 and it is wrong

Sounds like you just got your trig mixed up a bit. Should be

cos 39 = N/Fg = 0.78, which is the inverse if what you got.

Also, as a good sanity check, you should've noticed that the ratio you got implies that normal force is greater than the weight of the car, which is impossible on an incline.
