Okay so I'm getting ready to register for my physics class and I am confused as to the requirment for med school. How many hours is needed? Also they have a college physics class and then a general physics class... both 4 credits... which one should I do?

Dumb question here, but aren't you in college? Wouldn't that make them both college physics classes? I think the big distinction between physics classes is whether or not they are calculus based or not. In that case, there is no need to take the calc based one (it won't help on the MCAT and med schools don't seem to discriminate either).

To answer the second part of your question, you'll need to take two physics classes to satisfy the requirement (usually 8 units in total).

I've usually seen "general physics" used as a term for the calculus-based course. "College physics", for me, always meant physics 101/102, which is not calculus-based. It may vary by institution, though the only difference will be calculus as the last person pointed out. Calc-based physics is not at all helpful for the MCAT, in my opinion.

The credits that you take (other than pre-req's) are a moot point, really, and medical schools don't care.....just try to get as many A's as possible and you'll be fine. That's the most important point.

Well I just looked at the course description for the classes, and the "college physics" requires a coenrollment or already completed calculus 2. So I think that its the general physics that I will take. They offer the general physics 1 and then 2 in the summer. I am also taking Chemistry, and then the end chemistry this summer, and then organic all next year... and so I will have completed my sciences... and I will take the MCAT that april! woo hooo!!!!

I assume you're at UAF. Then you need to take the Physics 103-104. Physics 211-212 is for engineering majors. Physics 115-116 is really just high school physics and the medical schools might not take that (although they don't even seem to take it anymore). I'm a physics grad from UAF and worked for the department for several years after I graduated.
