Physics vs. Chemistry vs. Biology

I haven't taken physics but I finished gen chem and bio this year.

I thought gen chem was a little harder than bio but not by too much.
Although I haven't taken physics, I feel like it'll be tougher than bother gen chem and bio.

In terms of difficulty, at least for me-
Physics>Chem>Bio
Same within the mcat

I agree with this. I sometimes think it also largely depends on the school/professor.

Physics was the hardest, definitely difficult to grasp these abstract concepts. Biology was just easy to just memorize facts.

I'm taking physics next semester, but I thought Bio 1 and 2 were much much easier than gen chem 1 and 2. Not to say that gen chem was ridiculously hard or anything. It just involved much more work and studying.

finished biology and gen chem this past year.. I really liked both classes, I did think that gen chem was harder because the problems were a little more applied. Biology is just memorization and for physics I have not taken the course yet.

This might sound weird coming from a premed, but I absolutely hated biology. The subject is interesting but bio and I just don't get along when it comes to classes and exams...My favorite classes were gen phy and all the chem courses.

chem major btw

So far all of the bio classes I have taken haven't been difficult, but I'm good at memorizing. Chemistry was hard at first because I've never been exposed to it in high school & I tried to take it in the summer. I started with chem 101 and it made gen chem easier for me.

Physics was the worst for me because it's so much trigonometry, which I hadn't looked at since early in high school. It took me a few weeks to really get what was going on. Both physics and chem are pretty math based, so if you know math you can get through it. Bio was fine, just memorization.

I haven't taken physics yet but the hardest for me was Gen Chem so far. It wasn't because the class was hard, but rather because I was carried away with the freedom and partying in my freshman year and didn't study. Consequentially I got a C+ both semesters. I will be retaking it next year along with physics. Hopefully I'll do well. :xf:

physics was hard to learn but easy to study for once you got the concepts.

chemistry was just fun, basically all dimensional analysis.

biology was easy to forget the things.

bio was hard at my school bc to combat at cheating, everything was open book open note with an average grade of 40 percent. Typically high grade was 60 percentish, so a curve was established.

Physics was hard, but I love grinding out math so even on ridiculous problems I could manage.

Chem was just competitive. Sooooo many students fighting for A's. WOW

Chemistry has always come fairly naturally to me, it was no big deal.
Physics I found harder (college was my first exposure to it) - it took a bit of getting used to, but I grew to like it.
Biology, on the other hand, I just couldn't figure out how to master. Toooo much memorization about plants and ecosystems for me

I took AP Bio so was easy so can't really count. Basic chem was fine, but physics I hated. Definitely had the most trouble with that.

gen chem 1&2 were both extra easy. just did the homework didnt require much studying. physics1 got a B deff alot harder for me then chem was. bio 1&2 taking this summer so far i got a 96 on my first test, so i must be doing something right, bio is nothing but memorization.
so for me physics is the hardest, then i guess bio then chem:laugh:

Physics was no joke. I got an A- first semester luckily and barely made it out with a C second semester. I was thankful for that C because retaking physics 2 would have been as bad a retaking the mcat in my opinion.

for me:

anything math >> physics >> chem >> biochem >> biology

Had the toughest time with Bio. Basically just meaning that was the one I have had to put the most time into.

Physics>>>> everything else. It just never clicked with me, I hated every second of it.

For me, biology classes are a cake walk. It's the physical sciences that kick my ass.

Chem was the hardest. I've never had another class where every student is franticly scribbling until the time limit. Also personally my lab class was awful. Had a grad student at another school run my lab and he didn't give us any feedback on our labs until well into the semester, with the majority of the class barely pulling a 65 and only 3 over 80 (I was one but made my labs perfect and still couldn't break a 90, no idea how the curve worked but it didn't help the top of the class much at all).

Physics I took at a CC. Scraped by with an A but overall understood everything pretty well (and I've tested my knowledge against friends at 4 year schools to understand where I am at for when I study for the MCAT).

So chem>physics>bio. Now on to organic :scared:

I'll move my answer from CC to here as well, for onlookers:

As you can see, it depends on the individual & the school (teacher).

In general, gen chem probably won't be the hardest (if it's hard to you, then physics is likely to be harder). If you like to read a lot & learn by memorization, then bio will likely be the easier one. If you like math and enjoy working out problems + learning by theory, then physics will be the easier one. All in all, physics will likely require the most homework/assignments (problem sets), while bio will require a lot more self-studying (reading).
