not unless your major requires it

I think it should be preferred to take calculus-based physics. In calc-based, it makes more sense because you can see how all the equations come about through the different derivations.
im in calc2. and currently taking physics also. so far. we've only applied calculus ONCE this whole semester. and it was a simple derivative problem that i did in my head. lol but it'll prolly be different at other schools
my advice to you is.. stay away from physics if u dont have to take it. lol but i believe its a predent requirement. so i guess its impossible to stay away.

As I recall, calculas based physics contains very little calculus indeed. At least at my school. It was used in lecture quite often, however, only for derivations. It rarely made its way onto a test. In fact, the only time I remember using calculus in calc based physics was with Gauss's law.
Physical Chemistry courses are another story. Damn. Those things were HEAVY on the calculus. We had to use integral tables on exams.

I dunno, my Statistical Thermodynamics and Kinematics courses were more like math courses. But I mean, each prof. is different.
No Calc in P-chem What? 😱 . I am in thermochemistry right now and so far it has been light on the chemistry and heavy on calc(both semesters). The recipricol rule, cyclic rule, integration, taylor series. For the record I am no math wiz and P-Chem is torture for me. I am at least going to get a high B but I will get hammered after the final.
i hate physics, i think it's a lot harder than ochem
