I was listening to a Kaplan lecture and the lecturer stated that most (70%?) of physiology on the USMLE was endocrine physiology. Has anyone not found this to be so?
Well, I'm not everyone but I don't remember a single endocrine physiology question on mine. I had a bit of respiratory physio, some cardio, but no endocrine. There was some endocrine pathophysiology but it was like, MEN syndromes.
I do not think it is typical for any organ system to make up the majority of phys. I had a good mix of cardiac, pulmonary, renal, GI, and endocrine.
Sometimes you may not recognize that a question is testing a physiologic question. If a question seems hard, ask yourself if calculating something like an A-a gradient or a GFR could shed some light on the situation.
Since just about every (or perhaps every) organ in the body has some kind of endocrine function, I guess this could be true. Statements like this just illustrate that efforts to categorize questions are not necessarily useful. You have to know all of physiology, not just a small subset of it.
