pi orbital

5 from the 5 carbons, 1 from the nitrogen and 1 from the lone pair on the nitrogen = 7.

i would guess either 6 or 7. im curious, since the nitrogen lone pair isnt delocalized in the aromatic ring, would they still occupy a pi orbital?? I can see the six pi orbitals from the three double bonds, im just not sure about the lone pair...

I thought 6 as well but OP says its 7 so I assumed the lone pairs on the Nitrogen would contribute to pi molecular orbitals -shrugs-
 
Well I'll just have to completely disagree with the OP then because the lone pair isn't a part of the conj. pi system. It is just like benzene but has a basic lone pair (since it's not part of the pi system) instead of a C-H like in benzene.
