What would help me the most for medical school? Don't give me any of that "take what you enjoy" bull**** cause ever since I signed up for this pre-med thing, I havent had a class choice, and theres no reason to break that streak now..

Take Molecular Bio and Biochem if you have not taken it yet, it will help somewhat in biochem in med school. forget about the disorders class and micro, will not help.

Microbio really won't help at all? I am only asking cause I saw it mentioned on so many course outlines. And btw I have taken Biochem.

Also, is Bio Embryology worthwhile?

It depends what classes you have had before. If you have never had a micro class, it would probably be good to get some exposure. Medicine is going to be based more and more on genetics in the future, so that might be a worthwhile class, but if you have had a class in the past that covered the basics of genetics (DNA stuff) then I wouldn't worry about it. Seriously, though, take what you are interested in--this will help you the most! You will learn more in a class you enjoy.

I just thought, some schools require a genetics class, some require 6 credits of psychology classes, look at specific requirements of schools you will be applying to.

if you have had basics of genetics, i would take micro. micro WOULD help by giving you a basic foundation of microbes. aside from anatomy, i have been told micro tends to be most tedious/difficult for med students. i would suggest, however, if there is a medical micro class to take that instead, it'll probably be more interesting (pathogenesis of organisms, etc) and geared towards what you will be learning in med school.

just my opinion.

I have had a sophomore level "cells+genetics" class (240). So it wasn't all that in-depth but will give a good background. I have ALL of my requirements done as well as my major, so this class is being taken for the only reason to have it in med school, and i am really indifferent about it. Never taken a micro or molecular class before. Thanks for all the input guys. So i guess the real question now is it micro or molecular??

i'd say if you want to have a bit of "fun" take micro. if you want to be serious, take molecular. my opinion is probably a bit skewed though because i just finished my master's thesis in micro and i've taught it for 3 years...

Take Genetics so you can sleep through Genetics in med school, not that you wouldn't sleep through it anyway 😳
I think the only class that I took undergrad that makes a difference in med school is Biochem, 'cause wow it moves fast, I couldn't imagine not knowing any of it before hand.
