Picking a research project

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Offshoot, even if you don't publish or actually succeed, owning your own project is a big deal as far as actually improving at research and learning is concerned. Also want to think about what you want out of it, (paper?) and be up front asking if that's something you'll get at both projects.

I can't speak at all to how nice either would look on a resume or something, but I say if your PI/Mentor either thinks you will be productive at this independent project or is willing to spend time mentoring you then that'll be the best for you.
