Hi - wondering how feasible it would be to find locums assignments for one off/emergency weekend coverage? This could be inpatient, PES, wherever really.

I'd be happy to travel wherever needed for the right assignment. Ideally I'd like to add the random weekend (to my M-Th job) here or there without having to get locked into a set schedule. Is this possible/what would be the best way to set this up?

I doubt locums could facilitate this. You would likely need to just get employed by one of these places, and have the contract verbiage established up front you are essentially a relief type person. I suspect many inpatient units could be open to this idea. You might need to work a week on one of your vacation days to do the obligatory 'professional evaluation' scat kick started by CMS, then after that segway into weekends.

Depends on where you are. In my area, there are plenty of weekend moonlighting options where shifts sometimes don't get filled until a few days before. This includes inpatient and PES. They don't take people from out of state, but there are people who come from different parts of the state (worked here locally at first and then moved away).

I wonder why they won't take anyone from out of state - what's the difference to them (unless there is a cost aspect of this).

Alternatively, I wonder if it would be possible to be scheduled once a month at a facility? I essentially want to add one weekend a month to my regular job, I just figured finding random one off locum assignments would be the best/easiest bet to do that.

Maybe it would make more sense to do telepsych one weekend a month?

Unsure. Maybe they don't want to deal with state licensure issues or deal with different tax structures. All of the moonlighting I do is W2.

Most of my moonlighting is one weekend a month, with some being during evenings. The best way to find out about these opportunities is word of mouth, but other options would be to attend job fairs (virtually now) which is how I got invited to moonlight at 2-3 different places or cold calling/sending emails to different facilities inquiring about it.
