Hey ya'll! I was wondering what everyone is going to do about the 2x2 picture. I really don't feel like going to get a passport style picture taken of myself at Kinko's or anything so, I was thinking about using a picture of myself that I had taken on my digital camera.

I'm not dressed in a suit or professional attire, but I'm wearing a black shirt. What do you all think? What is everyone else doing for the picture? Is it really that big of a deal??

What are you going to do for your picture, Oceanblue? And no, I'm not going to put my picture up for judging lol.
 
Hey, Shane! Some schools, such as NYU and some others, require that you send in a 2x2 passport photo of yourself along with additional fees at the same time with your AADSAS application.
 
i just used a random picture of me with a white polo shirt and I did some photoshop to give ivory color background. Also printed it at home and cut it 2x2.
 
someone posted something on here about doing your pictures at home, did you just have someone take a picture with you on a white background and then went to something like a walgreens and print it? How did you print it out to be 2x2?

digital camera, white wall, photoshop/microsoft paint it to 2x2, print on glossy paper, voila!
 
i wore a collared shirt for my 2x2 ( i went to AAA) and when they cropped it, you can only see my head and neck...no shirt..sooo dont worry about to wear, just dont wear anything at all..

funny! well, my background isn't white. I'm sitting on the couch and you can definitely see the pattern in the background. I don't have advanced photoshop to actually change the background. I was only able to crop it. So..I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

Scissors

Look nice though. They use it to spark their memory when reviewing applications. No one remembers your name...but your picture really helps.

I just took a picture, used photoshop to shrink it to 2x2 and copy/pasted it into a 3x4 matrix or whatever dimensions those u-print-it machines at walmart use.

Then just get your 1 copy printed out (I payed with a credit card, classy move with a $0.07 charge) and cut 'em out.
 
You are applying to a professional school, so you should be professional. Just go to Walmart or JC Penny and have your pics done. Trust me, it will look better. Plus, you will have some pics remaining to give to your grandma😀

Waste of money if you ask me. The photograph is just to make sure you're the same person as the guy who comes in to interview. Just take a headshot with a digital against a white background and save $20.

edit: I looked like a ***** in the picture I sent out and I didn't even have to put on pants

Last year, I used my digital camera and asked my brother to take it for me. I wore a blue shirt with a tie. Then, I went to Target to print it out. I don't think it was my picture that got me into my top choice. In fact, I looked awfull in my picture.

precisely. my photo was a self-done headshot wearing a surf brand t-shirt.
 
As long as it's not a "I took this picture of me in the bathroom for myspace" you'll be alright, I'm sure
 
I just took an old mugshot and used photoshop to add clothing and remove my black eye and inmate #. 😀

Honestly, I just took a bunch of digital photos of myself, and resized and cropped the one I liked. Most schools stick it in your file so they can remember who you are when they are talking about you.

So I CAN'T send the "reflection of my half naked booty in the mirror" pictures? There go MY chances for acceptance! :laugh:
 
When I saw you replied in this thread, I got worried. I heard you have this whole hazing thing you do to newbies, and I was scared you were gonna make me cry. So as long as I send you pictures, you'll be nice to me? 🙂

My photos were only $8 with a coupon. At all my interviews you could see my picture attached to my file, so they do see it. AND, all of my interviewers were older men, and being old fashioned means that they would be more inclined to prefer proper attire with you looking nice whether its a picture or in person. Don't make this a bigger deal then it is, just have your picture taken and look nice.
 
oops i should have thought about this before! i went to walgreens & got 8 2x2 pics - cost me $34🙄

Do you have to wear professional cloths in pic as well? i am wearing a regular gray shirt - no collars. I look ok in the pic!but definitely not professional. does it matter?
 
How do you know which schools require you to do this?

Do they want it along with your AADSAS application or your secondary? It would seem weird sending them pics of yourself before even filling out a secondary app.

The schools that want a picture usually ask to send it with your secondary fee, which is usually (depending on the school) sent in at the same time as AADSAS.
