Pitt vs. Case for med school?

Hey all,
Will be MS1 in the fall and am seriously interested in ortho (have been for a long time). Would Pitt or Case Western be the logical choice FROM AN ORTHO PERSPECTIVE? Thanks a ton for your help and insight.

Neither would be logical over the other. The only advantage I would see is if you are particularly interested in the ortho program at Pitt or Case, as it will be easier to match at your home school, theoretically. As neither of them are particularly in areas of high concentration of orthopedics programs (say like phili where there are 5 programs, or NY where there are even more), either would be fine as both have excellent reputations for medical school. Choose the one that best fits you, so you can perform best, as you will still need to rock boards and clinical rotations even if you have the best rated ortho program in the country.

This is my outside observer opinion though. If you dig a little, there may be info about how old the programs are, how big they are, how long the chairman or chairwoman has been there, how nice they are, etc. This would best be directed at students who have actually rotated there. You can always try scutwork.com and see if there are recent med student reviews of the ortho programs.

Both Case and Pitt have very well known Orthopaedics departments. Both are in the 'world-class' category for research departments. You would have a good experience and meet some great people in both departments.
