I had to choose between Case, Pitt, and Buffalo. At the end, it came down to Case and Pitt. I chose Case. I am a PA resident, but Pitt would have actually been slightly more expensive for me. At Pitt, I would have had to borrow the maximum living expenses. At Case, I don't plan to borrow any money for living expenses because my husband can make more money in Ohio. So for my situation, Case was actually cheaper than attending Pitt as an in-state student!
But cost was not the most important factor to me; if it was, I'd have chosen Buffalo. I love the new curriculum at Case and I think it will be much more interesting than standard lectures for two years. I heard a rumor that Pitt is starting a new curriculum next year, but I'm not sure what it entails or if it is even true -- either way, you would be the first class to try the new curriculum (at least Case has had one year to work out the kinks) or you would be stuck with standard lectures. Case gets you in the clinic in your first year and I just think that the all-around clinical experience is much better at Case. Case is confident that I will be ready to practice upon graduation; Pitt said that I might want to do a GPR before I am really ready. Pitt is a great school and I actually know quite a few dentists who went there and loved it, but Case is a better fit for me. Hope that helps!
