I keep seeing people say they got an interview at Pitt in various threads
who all has heard from pitt already?

I have an interview with Pitt on Wednesday. I guess they got me early because I got my BS there and I live about 20 minutes from the campus. At least, that's what the secretary told me.

i got an invite to interview too...i live about 3 hours away. i scheduled it for later this month.

FFpharmd - when did they send you an interview invite??

to those that have been invited to interview, what are the dates to interview?

i received an interview invitation via email on january 21st

the possible interview dates were
feb 3
feb 13
feb 16
feb 27

Just had my Pitt interview today...I guess it went pretty well. You just meet with current students for 45 minutes, then you have your half hour interview, then it's done. I didn't get a lot of information about the school. Apparently for competitive admission, 2 people interview for every 1 seat, and anywhere from 50% to 60% of applicants are conditional acceptance, which leaves around 40-50 seats available.

Just a little FYI.

Pitt has got to be EXTREMELY competitive - but I am very surprised because I have an Ohio State interview lined up and still haven't heard from Pitt!! 👎 Prior to sending out my pharmcas - I thought for sure that Ohio State would have been more competitive than Pitt..

Any comments about people's opinions/ knowledge of Ohio State versus Pitt? 😕

It's funny, I applied to Ohio State and Pitt, and still haven't heard from Ohio State, but already interviewed with Pitt.

I think Ohio State is supposedly a really really good school. It looked awfully expensive to me though.

That is strange - I feel like there is no system to this interview selection process. I agree that OSU looked expensive - but once you are in state (which you can establish after 12 months residency) the tuition seems very reasonable. If Buffalo is a prospect for you (SovietPistol) - the tuition is awesome and you should check it out.

Haha, I already had my interview and got into Buffalo actually. Good guess!

haha - congrats! Yea, I just heard back from them too and the low tuition is def gonna be a swaying factor for me once I make the big decision.

I vaguely recall reading that for tuition purposes the first two years of Pitt professional years are considered undergraduate. I am now filling out the FAFSA and cannot find the webpage that I read that on. Can any of you guys direct me to the source of that information?

Additionally, according to the aacp Pitt offers a dual PharmD/MBA program. Does anybody know where more information on this program can be found?

just had my interview at OHIO STATE and it went really well- i've been accepted to buffalo, tjeff, mcphs and have interviews at temple, usp, touro, long island, etc. WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD BACK FROM PITT YET!!!!!!!
those of you who got interviews that aren't current PITT students - do you mind posting your stats? just curious

I had my pitt interview two weeks ago and got invited to the interview about four weeks ago.

They let everybody know from Pitt-Greensburg the same day. From what i have heard from my sister at pitt pharm and and the person in charge of admissions all the interviews have already been given out.

Pitt seems pretty competitive. I know several people with a 4.0 gpa and didn't even get an interveiw. They only have 50 open seats for like a thousand applicants.

When I had my interview i asked questions about this. Its nice bc you can accelerate yourself and get a lot of your MBA done while your in pharmacy school

How are you guys preparing for the Pitt interview? There is relatively very little information online about the program.

Uh the interview wasn’t bad. There is just like a 45 minute q and a portion. They take you on a tour of the school and then there is a half hour interview. All I did was practice questions I found online. The people there are really nice and the interview wasn’t bad at all

^^^ Agree

The interview was very laid back compared to most schools.

Pitt is super competitive, so bring ur A game. There are so many people who are over qualified for a PharmD, who will not get into Pitt. I feel bad for them.

800 applicants for 60ish seats, pretty easy to get brushed right over.

There so many new pharmacy schools opening up, which are not very good in my mind, in order to supply enough pharmacists for the job market. I feel the good schools should just expand and take in more students than having poor schools open up.

Just my opinion.

Correction: My girlfriend and I both received interviews invites today - so have hope people, they are still sending out interviews lol.

Good luck! I though interviews were done for pitt. Make sure u bring ur best to the interview bc from what i hears its pretty competitve to get into pitt. Oh and make sure u wear a suit. There was a person or 2 not wearing a suit at the interview and everybody else was. They kinda stuck out a little

haha thanks. i was really bummed when i saw your thread this weekend so i'm glad that i'm getting the opportunity. I'll def bring my A game and my suit - do you know apprx how many spots will ultimately be given to non pitt transfer students?

They don't really say. They have 60ish open seats. I don't think they have a quota for pitt and non pitt students but they do prefer Pitt students. Marica Boreille in charge of admissions told me they give them a slight advantage, not a ridicules advantage. I feel they will accept the most qualified students regardless of where they went to undergrad but will also give pitt students a little bit of an edge over the non pitt students. So if u are a non pitt student i really think u are only at a slight slight disadvantage. I think the real reason most pitt pharm students went to pitt undergrad is bc an overwhelming majority of pitt pharm applicants attend pitt. Therefore it is only natural for an overwhelming majority of pitt undergard students to get in to pitt pharm.

So is pitt ur number one choice??

It'll come down to my visit to the campus. I've been accepted to OSU and it will come down to PITT and OSU. How bout you? Any reason to pick Pitt over OSU from your visit/interview there?

I only applied to Pitt, Lecom Erie and Lecom Bradention. Lecom Erie and Bradenton are my back ups. I didn't apply to a ton of pharm schools bc i only have completed 3 semesters of classes so far, so i don't meet most of the pre-reqs for other pharm schools.

The main reason I'm going to pitt is because I attend pitt undergrad, my sister is currently in pitt pharmacy school, my brother will be attending pitt pharmacy school, my dad is alumni from pitt dental school. I figured I have a good chance of getting accepted. Also I live only about 20ish minutes away and own my own business so I plan on running it a little in pharm school to make extra money.

From what I have experienced from my sister @ pitt pharm, her friends and Marcia Boreilli (in charge of admissions) I am really really satisfied with the school. Personally I think pitt is under-ranked on the national rankings and is by far the best in the state of PA. The faculty is helpful and the students seem nice.

I really don't know anything about OSU, so I can't comment on which one is better. but I do know it's a good school and ranked higher than pitt. Pitt is only 19.7k a year and they don't have mandatory insurance and disability insurance and ridicules fees like some schools, so its not too expensive.

How much is OSU? Is either located better from where u currently live or attend undergrad?
