I'm wait listed for the Infectious Disease PhD program, it seems really great, and I'm hoping I get in.

I'm still waiting on a response from their MPH program in health policy and management. Though unless they give me a scholarship of some sort I don't see it being affordable for me to attend being that I'm out of state. The irony is that my parents live in PA just outside of Pittsburgh and while it would be great to live near them, it seems crazy to me that they charge 18k a semester to out of state students and 11k in-state. I got into Emory's program and comparatively the 'expensive private school' charges 13k a semester. Regardless I hope to hear back from them soon, they sent me an email about the first week of February confirming that they got it and are undergoing the review process but I have heard nothing more.
I`m in the PhD Epidemiology program. Thanks for the responses and good luck Jamiefrance.
Thanks!
Yeah, I looked into it pretty extensively after finding out I was waitlisted, and although we'd be in different departments, and I can't speak for Epidemiology, I saw only positive things in mine, and I'm really hoping they take me! I haven't found out where I am on the waitlist yet, though. I think they are building a new building for the Public Health School, too! Congrats on getting in!
I've been accepted into Pitt for Behavioral/Community Health Sciences. I've also been accepted into Tulanes program and am having a hard time deciding between the two. Any thoughts on cost of living, student life, etc at Pitt?? I'm a southerner so I'm drawn to New Orleans, but concerned about post-graduation job prospects down south.
Thanks!

I have been accepted into their IDM MPH program. I am contemplating on keeping this as my 2nd or 3rd choice after yale and Emory... What are your views about the IDM program?

It looks pretty awesome to me, and one of their professors who does virology research (and did her post doc at the CDC) really struck me as someone I'd like to work with, but I think they have been losing some of their funding... I read on Gradcafe that they only accepted 2 people into the PhD program this year (and one was an IDM MPH grad--there goes my hope of getting accepted off of the waitlist! Oh well) but I'm not sure about MPH. The curriculum looks really fascinating, in my opinion, but I guess it depends on what what your eventual goals are. I'm not really familiar with the area though, as I'm from the New England area, but I've never even been to PA. I also applied to Yale (I wasn't accepted, though) but I thought the Pittsburgh program was more closely aligned to my own interests. You've got some great options! Good luck!
I'm still waiting to hear from Behavioral and Community Health Sciences - I applied for the MPH program. The last I heard, admissions anticipated the department making a decision soon- regardless, I have a bad feeling about it. I have been accepted into other strong programs but I would like to know just so I can move forward with making my mind.
FYI, Pitt seems really disorganized (at least the epi department). I've told them 3 times now that I will be attending another school and I continue to get emails (both mass and personally addressed) about their visit day, funding, projects that I might be interested in, etc. Apologies to anyone on the waitlist for the PhD program. I keep telling them to give my spot away!!
