Hey, so I was looking at some questions and one asked... "What develops into the placenta in humans?"

I thought it was the chorion from my notecards (Kaplan by the way) but the answer was the Allantois.

I might just be completely confused and wrong. Any help though would be great! Thanks!!

Let me quote the Kaplan book on this one.

P. 70 of the Kaplan Book: "The blood vessels of teh allantoic wall enlarge and become the umbilical vessels, which will connect the fetus to the developing placenta."

I see... I am studying from the MCAT bio book and just went back and read all about it.

Pg. 66
"Plancenta formation begins with the chorion... but the allantois will connect the fetus to the developing placenta."

This is why I was getting confused, but thanks for clearing it up for me. Good luck!

I hate questions that are worded like this. It doesn't make any sense to me that "allantois" would be correct given the statement that "....the allantois will connect the fetus to the developing placenta".

This statement implies that the allantois and the placenta are two different things. Based on the wording of your information I'd have wanted to answer chorion also.
