Hello,
I was wondering if many DOs go into practice in urban areas like NYC? I know they have a reputation for serving rural, underserved areas. Is the New York area very DO friendly?
Thanks
New York is great for doin residency cause u see alot. For ex. gun shot wounds, AIDS, STD's, drug overdose and whatever else impoverished communities tend to have as opposed to a richer community. But everyday of seeing the same BS kind of makes u sick to ure stomach. Sometimes its better to work in an environment that not so, "cracked out."
There's actually a well-established osteopathic hospital deep in the Bronx--check out St Luke's. They have an osteopathic ER/FP combined residency that seems well-regarded.
