Well you will probably want something closer to the health sciences center (HSC). So when searching don't look at the apartments around sunnyside, beechurst, south park, etc. Those are all downtown and where most of the undergrad stay (party/distractions). If you have a roommate (or two or three)The District is nice (around $500/month-everything included) and is about a mile away from the HSC and a bus travels back and forth from the district to the HSC parking lot every 10 minutes, or you could go the trailor route and just pay lot rent each month. There are two trailor parks within a couple miles of the HSC as well, Independence Hill and the other name slips my mind. The trailor route would be the best investment because once you were finished you could sell it off to someone else. There are also the Georgetown apartments (nice but a little more expensive), Chateau Royale, and Stadium apartments. Not sure how nice these last two are though. I'd say just take a day or two and come look at these locations and then decide from there.

If you don't mind university appartments - you could try the Medical Center appartments they are the closest to Health Sciences. Heat, Cable, internet, electricity, telephone were all included in the rent. It seemed to be a good deal when I studied there. You might want to try and get the single bedroom ones - the rest are studios.
Pierpoint towers might also be a good option. But if you don't mind staying further away from Health Sciences you may be able to find much cheaper choices.
For my last couple of semesters I stayed downtown on Stewart St, near the Mountainlair. I was able to rent a two bed room attic space for $240 including heat/water and I shared it with a roommate!
Good Luck!

I'd definitely recommend staying within a reasonable walking distance from the HSC. There are several apartment complexes, townhouses, and a few trailer parks right within sight of the medical center and stadium. With the continously rising enrollment and a university/town that won't do ANYTHING to help with parking and traffic (sorry....just a little bitter 😀 ), it would make life a lot easier to be able to have a 10 minute morning walk to class instead of depending on making it across town in traffic every morning or riding the PRT (which is so unpredictable). This would also be nice when we get snow and driving is nothing but a headache ( especially on these hills).

I live in a nice apartment complex about 2-3 miles from the HSC, and when I'm out at the dentistry school, I'm definitely moving within a 1/2 mile. NOW is the time to start looking and signing a lease. Housing is nearly as crazy as parking in this town! And they plan to reach 30,000 students by 2010! Geesh! :scared:

Good luck! I'm sure you'll love Morgantown once you settle in! It's a nice, safe university town!

Thanks everyone. I am going up feb 8th to look around. Hope everything isn't taken. I've called many places and they are running out of apartments quick. For those of you going to wvu next year or current students..how much you do plan on spending for rent and utilities..thanks

I am going to spend $FREE.99 for living expenses and utilities. I have an aunt who lives in Cheat lake and I stay with her. I mow grass, shovel snow, pick up a loaf of bread or peanut butter every once in a while, but that's all. Can't beat the price. Then next year I plan on my girlfriend supporting me (graduating from dental hygiene this may). Sugar Momma's RULE.

Thanks again for everyone's advice...I went up yesterday and found a place really close to the school. Now all i need is some loan money and I'm ready to go.haha..
