Hey guys, i'd like to hear your outlook on what the most economical/efficient plan if...

A. You didn't get accepted to a pharmacy school after 2 years of pre-requisites

B. It's 2025 (assume that I graduated out of pharmacy school 2020), and pharmacists have become obsolete.

What would be the most optimal medical field or major to pursue after if I were to ditch pharm? What could I continue or dual major with a Pharm.D?
Sorry, I understand that pharmacy is treading deep waters, but I passionately believe pharmacy is for me.
Thanks!

Engineering (especially software) or finance are likely to provide the best returns on investment. The entire healthcare industry is likely to face downward pressures on reimbursements in the next decade, which would lead to fewer jobs and/or lower salaries.

up to you OP. no one has a crystal ball to make absolute certain predictions on the future. we can only predict the certainty of something happening. and you seem aware of the poor job outlook where even US News, an often cited source by prepharmers for ignoring sound advice and going into pharmacy dropped over 20 places. the certainty that pharmacy is bad is pretty high but nothing is ever 100%. could some new advance make restore pharmacy pride and create many jobs? maybe...but i haven't a clue as to what would save the job outlook.

it's possible that an entirely new field could open up that provides great options. advances in fields create and destroy jobs like internet and mail order destroy retail but create jobs needed to support. of course technology is all about replacing people, increasing efficiency, lowering wages.

the most stable jobs seem to be cops, firefighters, state troopers, private security. I can't see it being replaced unless everyone suddenly behaves themselves that and there's likely to be more strife and disorder and violence in the future so it should be a decent field. a lot of teaching could potentially be destroyed by e-learning and virtual/online classes. medicine facing payment cuts, the entire future simply doesn't look good. the best i'd say is try not to become a victim of someone else's greed. PA or APN or dentistry might be a good road to go down on but most who get into or do pharmacy these days don't qualify for those schools. nursing is a bit mixed, i'm not really bullish on that field and think it's like pharmacy too tbh but everyone's got their opinion.

I was sort of interested in medical/science majors. I sort of regret going down the road in high school of consuming solely science classes (My HS puts each kid in these blocks where you'd solely take classes based on the major you were given e.g Bio-Med/Computer Programming/Math etc...). Since I've been experienced with science, and I sort of have a penchant for doing it, I'd like to get into something medical.

Would Dentistry be a good Plan B for a pharmacy student?
