Hey everyone!

So I'm planning on studying for the DAT during the spring semester and will prob start during winter break. I know that there's a lot of threads on material to use but I wanted to get recent info and maybe info from people that studied recently. But the general consensus of what's good will help too. So I've heard the kaplan DAT book is good. How is this DAT destroyer on crackdat.com? Is it worth buying? What other material is really good?

My class load will be lighter:
Physics 2 with lab
Ecology
Christian marriage
Health care ethics

Total of 13 credits along with shadowing and extracurriculars.

If you guys could please let me know of anything that helps, please let me know. Thank you in advance!

Well as of now I'm using what a lot of people on here recommend

Kaplan, DAT Destroyer, Cliffs, and Crack DAT

Here is what I used:
*Kaplan Book (read through it 2-3 times for all sections...esp Ochem & Bio (for Gchem I used chemguy.com)
*for general chemistry....I highly suggest www.chemguy.com (go to this guys website, I donated $10, and got access to over 100 youtube videos on gen chem. Hes a professor from Canada who teaches the material VERY well...IT WORKED FOR ME, and I know itll work for anyone else. I didnt want to spend tons of $$$)....***its not a scam I promise
*flashcard exchange website...for bio, chem, ochem...there are more flashcards on this website than I thought there would be...esp lots of DAT study type flashcards for most sections
*CrackDat (PAT ONLY)...dont waste your time on science section...its way too hard and will just make you lose confidence....PAT section was EXACTLY like my test. I was seriously scoring 14s and 13s on science sections with this stupid program.
*Barrons DAT for all sections

I studed for 2.5 months
Initially I read kaplan book and barrons book, after I read those twice or so, i took the practice tests those books gave. then I went with chemguy stuff for a week or 2, then flashcard exchange.., then just a a thorough review of everything with lots of practice tests until test day.

PS I had alredy graduated from undergrad before I started studying for this test, so it had been at least a few years since I studied this stuff in school, and this is all I used to prepare.

Hope this helps!

I scored:
AA: 23
TS: 24
Bio: 23
GC: 23
OC: 27
QR: 21
RC: 19
PA: 24

Hey Capitan, what version of Kaplan did you use? I just did the full test on Kaplan DAT 7th edition, and my sciences came to be around 17 and 18s. I still have a month left. Would I have enough time to study or should I reschedule?

I used the 8th edition i believe. You still have time. if youre planning on rescheduling, don't do it until your closer to your test so that you know for sure that you need to rescehdule. just study hard and as time gets closer like within a week, then decide if you need to reschedule...you may have studied hard enough and have the confidence to just take the test on your original date and do well. also..be sure to double check how many days before your test you can reschedule.

I'm in the same position. I hope you don't mind me joining in, but feel lost as to what versions I should use to prepare. If the ADA has said that the changes should not affect the way we prepare then would I be alright using 2014 destroyers and 2013 Kaplan course material (in addition to cliffs/feralis/barrons for bio, and chads videos)? Thank you all!

What kaplan book would you recommend?

Sorry, I wasn't that clear I meant "minus" Kaplan. Like, stay away from that Blue Book, it really doesn't help at all. All the Kaplan material just barely skims the surface of the DAT, besides the math section it doesn't dive into the material near enough to score a 20 or above. Plus the organization of the some sections like ochem section are split up incoherently in comparison to the way Chad organizes his lesson plans.

The only material you should buy is Chad's Videos and Dat Bootcamp. In my opinion.

From my experience Chads and bootcamp alone will NOT get you a good score. You NEED to first have a foundation in biology (I used Campbells), chemistry (I was pretty good at this), and Organic (I liked Klein). Then supplement with DAT destroyer and cliffs. You should be set as far as the sciences go. For PAT I thought Crack DAT was the best representation of the test. As far as reading goes, read some scientific articles to familiarize yourself with dense material. Then use Kaplan reading.....I liked the search and destroy method.

What if I used kaplan first to learn the material then I could add in chads videos if need be? I'm really good with bio and orgo, gen Chen I could use some work on. Because I feel like I Would need chads videos to truly get the most out of it. I was planning on getting kaplan book and using that for a while along with dat boot camp for practice tests and dat destroyer for practice problems. And then some crack dat sections as well. And throw in chads videos if I REALLY NEED TO. Is that fine?

Check out my breakdown?
I think the resources I used were great!
I just don't remember them off the top of my head now
Good luck!

Haha, oh okay! I totally missed the minus sign. But then what should I use for a foundation? I've heard of using cliffs and barrons for bio but how about chem? Thanks!
