hay! for all those of you who got into Optometry school, what are your plans before you begin this Fall?

like, what are your plans for this summer? Are you gonna work? go traveling? take classes? And,
What will current optometry students do over the summer? Will any OD offer you a "summer" pre-job??

what are your plans, plans, plan.......tell me

hangout here with friends as much as possible, gym, travel, not workin (we'll see how long that dream lasts)

work and i have two classes in the summer....arghhhh

Take classes i.e posterior seg..clinic..and study for the national boards 🙁

At ICO we received a letter in our mailboxes offering us optometric fill in jobs all over the area. It is basically a temp survice for ODs. Some students are doing that, but a lot of us are working for the school. ICO have a ton of student jobs. I'm working for a prof doing some basic graphic stuff for Human Anatomy, Ocular Anatomy, and Histology.

I'll also be working in the clinics dispensory to get my required dispencing hours over this summer.

I also plan to sleep...A LOT!

At SUNY we have the opportunity to take 2 classes that are offered in the fall and winter quarters of our 2nd year to lighten the Nightmare Class Load that is 2nd year. I am definitely doing that! 😉

Then my husband and I are going to Europe! 😀

Being able to take those classes is great. With classes like Pharm during your second year, getting some courses out of the way would be really nice.

Where are you going in Europe?

r_salis,

what 2 classes will you be taking in the summer?

christie,

you cant study all summer ! have you thought about getting a job like rpames suggested?

😱 <-- this has nothing to do with anything! I put it here b/c its friday and im freaking glad it is!!

anothertony,

Clinic 3x a week will be my work for the summer, but I won't get paid to see these patients.

There's no time for work..I got boards this August! :scared:

They offer the lecture portions for Ocular Biochemistry and Oculomotor Systems over the summer. One is usually taught in the fall quarter and the other is from the winter quarter -- we'll still have to take the labs during those quarters, but no lectures.

r_salis,
how many hours do you plan to study a week for the Ocular Biochem. class...
like, how much time you think it'll take away from your summer?

christie,

how do you study for boards? do you get together with classmates; or study on your own? what approach seems to work best?

I think im going to be continuing to work the whole summer! =( I have about 10K in loans to pay off from college..... before I apply for another 100K!
