Do Plastic surgeons live the lifestyle that they do in Nip/Tuck and work the same hours? For example, Dr. Christian Troy was reported, on the show, to make between 750K-1.2Million dollars. Is the lifestyle representative of actual plastic surgeons?
 
Dude, I know you are only a pre-med, but it's the tools like Dr. 90210 and the fictitious television shows like nip/tuck that are shredding the image of the specialty. If you like Nip/tuck like I do, then like it for the drama and crazy revenge sex. Not because you think it represents medicine.

Also stop worrying about the money. If that is your only motivation, then get out of medicine NOW! Your time and educational investment will be better spent in some other field.

I can see how Nip/Tuck skews the image ofthe field... But how do the real plastic surgeons shown on Dr. 90210 shred the image of the specialty?

First off, Nip/Tuck does not skew the image of the field. It defecates all over it. Its an awesome show, but it represents the field as much as Scientology represents a church.

And as for 90210, he is not a board certified plastic surgeon and no self-respecting surgeon would do concentration curls before going into surgery. To be fair I know a couple of people in my class who first got interested in plastics because of that show and have done research and published in the field.

But still...Don't feed the Troll.
