Paying $18,000 for "coaching" to get into Haverford? I got into 2 Haverford-caliber schools by studying hard for the SATs (cost me $25 for the prep book), taking a lot of APs (and doing well), and writing an essay about speaking multiple languages (my English teacher reviewed it for me for free).

Oh yeah, and I got scholarships at both, too. So expenses - $25, revenue (if you consider the 4-year scholarship) - $45,000.

It's funny how $18,000 of didactic coaching supposedly molds you the well-rounded, independent individual the adcoms want. Isn't this irony at its best?

jochi: Yah, i'm guessing this is more a service for the screwoff kids of the elite.
