I have been speaking with a lot of my college transfer friends and they told me when they transfered to my university, they had to start there GPA over...thus made me to wonder, suppose I did bad my freshman year at a certain university but decided to transfer to another one. My GPA would then start from scratch, right? If I am able to get A's in the upper division coursework, wouldn't that somewhat inflat my GPA by neglecting what happened at previous universities? Please pass on some input and thanks!😎

You are required by the application service to submit transcripts from every post-high school institution you attend. AMCAS recalculates your application GPA using its own method. It doesn't matter how the university you attend figures your GPA or whether they accepted all your credits in transfer, or whether they wipe the slate clean because you screwed up. Everything you earned will count when applying to allopathic med schools (except in some situations credit earned at foriegn universities that were not accepted by your home university, like in study abroad).

Ah darn...I see...
Sorry for this off topic question, but could I retake a particular course at a different university and then Most Medical school would average the first and second one, right?
-.-''' (I apologize for annoying some of you who already know this)

That's correct - MD schools will average your grades; DO schools will take your best result.

Thanks organic! That would make more sense why DO schools may be a bit easier to get in... 😀

DO schools will take your best result.
Small correction: They take the most recent result, whether it's an improvement, or not. Also, the number of credit hours in the repeat course must be the same as the original.
