I'm applying to dental schools this cycle. I took the DAT in October but it did not go well so I'm retaking it in February. My app was submitted and completed in June. Assuming the retake goes well, I don't really know what my chances are now for this cycle (due to the timing). It's hard to study for my retake when I feel that my chances are slim for this cycle....yet at the same time I know I have to retake the DAT at some point so I might as well take it now than later.

The schools already have all my info...just waiting on new DAT scores. Assuming the retake goes well (20+) what are my chances for this cycle if I retake the exam in February? (gpa: 3.3/2.9) strong upward trend, lots of ec's and clinical experience, international background. I spent $3000 in app fees already, and banked that my Dat would go well, but it didn't and so here I am.

Please give thoughts...thanks guys.

Sorry to be a bummer, but I think it's too late for this year. Plan to re-apply next year.

^^^^^^ +1

You have spend alot of money but do not rush the retake. Make sure you are fully prepared. That 3000 dollars will not matter once you get into dental school and become a dentist.

you would have to score reaaaaaaaaally high on the DAT in february for them to consider you I think; especially with that 2.9 science GPA. That being the case, it's better you just take your time and make sure you really kill the DAT because i would say anything less than a 21-22 won't help with that science gpa
