Hey,
Brief intro- I was homeschooled, graduated from HS early, doing first year of college at a local cc (will transfer in a year).
Ok- I will be transferring to a university in one year (fall 2012), and I have done a substantial amount of research about med school admissions.... However, just about how important is the undergrad university you attend? I know stats are more important, but since I have to transfer, there is not a huge difference between Virginia tech, VCU, and George Mason. Do med schools give a lot of thought into what school the applicant went to?

Also, I have a 4.0 so far (only like 20 credits, w/ bio 1, 2), but math is kind of the scary part. Is calculus 2 preferred by med schools, or will calc 1 and stats suffice for all the math needed in undergrad? Also, what is the policy with online math classes (calc)? I know science w/ lab is bad to take online, but does the same rule apply in calculus (no labs)?
The courses I'm most terrified of are basically physics and calculus (I'm not THAT bad at math, but due to my non traditional HS, I haven't had any exposure to either physics or calc). Any advice you guys can give me with these two classes? Thanks all...

School doesn't matter all that much.

You shouldn't have any issues taking math online, but if you stuggle, having you questions answered in class can help a lot.

Math requirements very by school. Most are happy with Calc I and Stats, but some want Calc II. HMS comes to mind 🙂

:luck:

I never even took Calc I, and I met the math reqs at all the schools I was interested in. I did Stats and an Independent Study in Math.

The best advice would be to look at the websites of schools you think you will be interested it and see what they want 🙂

hm, hey thanks a bunch. The med schools I'm most interested in don't really require calc 2, a couple don'e even need calc 1, 🙂

A lot just require 2 semesters of math above College algebra level. Calculus I is recommended, however, along with Statistics.
