I have both books and cannot make up my mind which to use as a text for COMLEX 2. Step UP to step 2 has the details, but Crush reads very easy and seems to get down to the bread of butter of medicine. One thing that bugs me about step up is when listing radiology or treatment, there is like a list of 5 things but no indication of what is first line or what you must get done prior to more extensive workups. However Crush will say "Get a CT scan" indicating the best option.

Only taking COMLEX, but any comments about either of these books are appreciated . 😀

YOu may be shocked to hear that this thread has been discussed literally 95 times. You might want to search the forum before starting yet another book for step 2 (COMLEX, whatever) studying thread.

Crush is scant, useful only as a foundation builder. You can knock it out in a weekend. It really is a light read and wont score you many points on the test. But what it does wonderfully is give you some foundation, some key cues for disease, and the reminder "oh yeah, that thing exists."

Step-Up is more detailed and is the book (if you dont like FA) to use for studying for the test. The details found in step-up are going to be more like the details you encounter on your exam, though it is harder to get through. If you have the time, warm up with crush, finish reading with step-up or first aid.

Always make sure you do questions.
