I am having trouble interpreting this question. For those who faced similar questions, are you elaborating on important medical career attributes such as empathy, teamwork, problem-solving, etc.

Or are they looking more for unique qualities that would benefit the "actual" class, i.e., the students you will work with the next four years. 😉

i answered the question with an emphasis on the second option you present up there.

I answered the question with an emphasis on the second option. Described a little about how I am unique and how it will broaden the class.

A friend of mine was interviewing at Case and got this question. The interviewer was an anesthesiology resident who had just lost his first patient 20 minutes earlier....he was not in a good mood, and he did not like my friend. His name...I can't make this up....was Dr. Gno (pronounced Dr. NO!! ).

My friend answered by saying, "well I like to think that I take things just seriously enough"

Dr. No didn't crack a smile, or even change his expression, he just coldly said "ok, I guess I'll put down sense of humor"

OUCH!!!

thanks for the insight....I currently mulling over how I am unique 😴

 ....oh man that was great! 👍

Your friend: "So do I get in?"
Dr. Gno: "What is my name?"
Your friend: "Damn"
Dr. Gno: "No....it's No"
Your friend: "Me getting in or your name?"
Dr. Gno: "Yes"

Yeah I still give him crap about that...I was rolling on the floor the first time I heard it. Needless to say he didn't get into Case....but he did get into USC, so he has to go to school in LA instead of Cleveland....D@MN!!! 😀

BTW, despite reports to the contrary, Cleveland does not, in fact, "rock"

well when you say what things you will bring that are unique.. i'm not quite sure going into how your underwater basketweaving skills will set you aside from everyone else.. I still think your basic morals and values, coupled with what programs you see yourself participating in and what you can give (yes.. good old teamwork, integrity, etc.. are great qualities) I don't think explaining that you can poop in the shape of our current president is going to convince them that you'll mesh well with the rest of the class... just my .02 what do you guys think?

That's as unique as it gets, if that quality doesn't get you in, nothing will...
