Hello everyone,

I know its a little cliche... but if being a physician is what is truly in your heart...whatever you do...dont give up! I found out today that I was accepted to NYCOM and it flooded me with so many thoughts and emotions regarding the application process. Through the years I have struggled with the possiblity that I may be chasing a dream that wouldnt happen...I have even given up and sold out a few times along the only to realize that my heart is in medicine and I would pursue it no matter what!! I didnt get in right out of undergrad(low GPA, low MCAT) so I went to chiropractic school...I knew it wasnt truly what I wanted to be so I left after the first semester, took the GRE and went through a Masters Program...took the MCAT again...didnt do so great...took it AGAIN...reapplied...got 3 interviews one waitlist....Then NOTHIN!!! So....went back to college..post grad, took a few hard courses did well and reapplied...I got one interview...ONE ACCEPTANCE!!! All this time I was working, paying for a home and getting married!!!so please...whatever you do...DONT GIVE UP!!!!!Good luck everyone and thank you all for your support on SDN!! 👍 👍 👍 😀 😀

Congrats on all your hardwork. Glad to see it paid off in the end 😀

Congratulations domsport!! Good luck at NYCOM! 👍

Congrats. Its a great feeling to get accepted huh? It took about 3 weeks for the initial euphoria to wear off for me. Once again, congrats and good luck.

Great story for everyone who really really wants to do MEDICINE from their heart.

Congrats and I look forward to working with a life experienced doctor in the future.

That is awesome. Many congrats and I wish you all my best for your successful journey trhough med school. 👍 👍 👍 👍

Congrats on that, really inspirational account 🙂

Great post. I'm very happy for you. I agree with not ever giving up if you really want to do something. That's how Navy Seals and Army Special Forces guys make it. They simply do not give up.
Great job, and good luck to you. You deserve it.

Congrats.
This is such a great sorry. I think everyone should read this story, the people who get into medical school right after Undergrad and people who have to try five times to get into medical school because how smart or not so smart you are atleast once in your lifetime you have to make hard decisions. This story will only give all those people some courage which everyone needs at difficult times.

I wish moderators make a thread of 'never give up' at the top of forum and thus encourage people to read it.
