Please help me.....I thought I had firm understanding of following questions:

#27) Which of the following anatomical structures is homologous to wing of a bat?

A)The dorsal fin of shark
B) The tail of fish
C) the wing of the butterfly <-----this is what i picked
D) the kangroo tail
E) the human arm <------ ans

i picked C cause....homologus structures are same orign but different fn. right....and i know that wing of the bat and wing of a bird are analogous structure and wing of a bird and human arm is homologus....so how does wing of bat homologus to human arm.....

#33) A woman carries a sex-linked lethal gene tha cause spontaneous abortions. She has 6 children...How many of her kids would be boys...

A)None <---- i picked
C) 2 <--- ans..

Sex linked....if she has it...her boys will have too...then they die and she is left with none boys....

#39) In a pond community consisting of minnows, algae, bass, insects and humans. the secondary consumer would most likely be

A) Humans
B) bass <---- i picked
C) minnows <--ans
D) insect
E) algae.

secondary consumer eats primary consumer who eat producers right??? minnows eats algae (primary consumer shouldnt be)....bass eats insect; insect eats alage....secondary consumer....

minnows eat insects i believe...first problem you just have to have that memorized when i answered that i immediately recognized human arm...

the spontaneous abortions if a woman is a carrier XfXF little f being the legal one and the male XFXY when you make the punnet square and cross that you will have

XF Xf

XF XFXF XFXf

XY XYXF XYXf

the XYXf will be sex linked lethal gene...and the probability is 1 out of 4 kids will die(being the boys)...so for every 4 kids she has one boy will die...and if she has 6 in theory 2 boys will die 2 will survive and all 4 girls

Kaplan blue book page 178 says
"examples of homologous structures include the wings of a bat, the flipper of a whale, the forelegs of horses, and the arms of man".
Homologous structure = similar structure, same origin.
I have no idea how i can figure out whether they got the same origin or not. Maybe bat and human had same ancester....or share the same Jesus Christ 🙂 if batman real~

algae is plant = producer
insect eats algae = first consumer
minnow eats insect = second consumer
bass eats minnow = tertiary consumer
human eats whatever...

algae is plant = producer

human eats whatever...

minnow is a small fish and bass is a big fish

Don't forget that humans and bats are both mammals, so there is a very close ancestral link.
