Please help ccs logist questions, take test in a few days!

I've been using world ccs, and wanted to know the following

1.) Is the real test similiar in format/software/screen appreance as world ccs

2.) When discharging how do I dc change home med list? If a patient was on iv abx in house, and want to dc for 4-6 weeks po, how do i say cont abx for 4-6 weeks? Same for steorids, how do i dc on steorid taper instead of just steroids?

3.) Discharing issues- do i have to dc all ivs, vitals, etc. Should i see the patient in follow up clinic before I exit the case?

4.) How do I scheudle outpatient procedures during discharging?

5.) How do i give normal saline boluses on top of cont rate?


I feel like i can run through the cases and know what to do, but its this stupid software and knowing how to place orders is whats killing me.


Any advice will be much appreciated as I take this test in a few days.

I got my scores back and passed USMLE Step 3 the other night. I was pulling my hair out until I found this on-line course.

I had the same questions you did and could not find answers. It really helped me understand the software and what CCS was all about. This is what the USMLE practice CD should have in it. You can know all the things to do, but if you don't do them in the right order and at the right time you might not get any credit. That really scared me because the CCS can make or break you.

I am not advertising for the CCS workshop - I am just telling you that if you want to understand this crazy test then pay the $88 and watch the online videos. I did it the week before my test and got above average on the CCS part of the exam. Despite using this learning tool, I know I still screwed up a couple because you get nervous and it is not a real patient.

i have also been wondering about many of these questions? Does anyone know???

i did just read that you don't have to worry about steroid taper, as that will be done automatically for you... it was in this PPT-like file that you can download from usmle website, it answers a lot of FAQs
