Hi everyone;
3.9 GPA
23, 25 MCAT (9-9-7)
NO Do Letter but 30+ DO Shadowing Hours
Strong extra-curriculars + healthcare exp
MN Resident

I am applying to a lot of schools because I can afford it, will put in the time and effort to fill out the secondaries, and want to get in. I'm sure this list of 20 will lower after I see some of the secondaries or start to get interviews, etc. Applying early (1st week).

PLEASE help check my list to check for:
1. Whether there is any MCAT cutoffs I am missing (for example, a school may require 8 or above on each section, let me know b.c. i have a 7) AND whether I might get screened out immediately with my MCAT score (i know it depends on the situation, GPA, etc. but you may hear of some schools with strict cutoffs and screening with MCAT score)
2. Whether a school has a very strong preference for in-state or regions that I should not waste my time applying to (perhaps the pacific schools..?)
3. Whether this school requires a DO letter . I know many recommend it, but do not require it. I have done a LOT of research, made spreadsheets, etc. on this but I just would love to have outside eyes check to not waste my time applying if they REQUIRE a DO letter and I missed this requirement.
4. Anything else I am missing about the college that I should know about that would affect me applying for this school, if its a waste of my time, i would rather not waste the money and time.

THANKS!

Thank you Altered! You are always helpful. I really appreciate it.

Would love more input!

I also think it's a really good list. The only additions I would throw into the mix are WVSOM and KYCOM since money isn't an issue (just based on stats alone)

No DO letter could be problematic... otherwise solid list

Hi MedNation;

I would, as my stats would fare well at those schools, but both of those require a DO letter.

I believe the VCOMs require a DO letter.

VCOM's website is so confusing. But I believe it says if you don't have a DO letter, an MD letter can substitute, and you will need to spend time with a DO prior to interviewing as a condition of acceptance. So technically they do not require a DO letter I think? Would like confirmation.

Thanks for all the input everyone, please let me know if you have any more.

I see. Any chance that DO you shadowed might write you an LOR? It's really an unnecessary area to lack in your application, required or not

PCOM requires a minimum of 8 in each sub-section, I believe.

all for MCAT cutoffs

C'mon, do your homework. Schools are quite specific about when they require a DO LOR.

Thank you for your opinion Goro. I will take that into consideration and appreciate it. However, I have done days of research, multiple spreadsheets and worked really hard on this list. I just wanted a quick double check before I paid for the programs and finalized my list.

What's the MCAT cutoff for western?
