Please help,desperate:will take Aug MCAT and reapply: do Adcoms wait for new scores?

hi guys. . .i just got rejected from the last school i was waiting on. so, i'm going to reapply again this june.

i plan to take the Aug MCAT. i'm just confused on how i can make sure that the Admissions committee look at my new scores and, at the same time, not be considered a late applicant.

Do I send in my new AMCAS app in June again with my old MCAT scores only to update my app later when I get my AUG scores? If i indicate that I will be taking the AUG MCAT (even though i've already taken last year's APRIL MCAT), will schools wait until they get my new scores before they start to review my file? in other words, will taking the AUG MCAT make me a late applicant even though i already have scores from last APRIL's exam?

If anyone could provide some insight to my questions, i will really appreciate it. i went to see my school counselor (who is new) and he does have any clue. i feel so lost. please help.=)

have you figured out why you got rejected? have you called up the admission offices??? don't charge back into applying until you have improved your application.

If you put on your AMCAS that you are tkaing the August MCAT schools will wait until they recieve your August scores to review your application. Just get your app in early and you should still be ok.....good luck...

I'm afraid the answer is yes, they will wait on your new scores before considering your file complete (you won't have to update your app, AMCAS will send all the schools you've applied to the new scores, since you will have indicated on your app that you're planning on taking it). But that doesn't necessarily mean you're screwed. I took the August MCAT this cycle, and received 5 acceptances. Just make sure to have everything else in ASAP so your file is complete and just waiting on those scores in order to be reviewed. Do an SDN search on August MCAT (once they have the search function up and running again) and you'll find lots of discussion about this.

yah, i did try to ask admissions office: in particular usc and ucsd and nymc. usc said that they can't comment on why i was rejected. and the other two said that they can't right now: too busy. do schools really give you that kind of feedback? if so, how do you ask? email? phone?

thanks for replying to my post. yah, i will use the search function once it is up and running. i actually looked through 39 pages of post topics before i posted this one cuz i didn't want to waste ppl's time by asking the same question.

i was wondering though.. . .about what you said. .that you were still find even though you took the AUG MCAT. . .could it be because of all the AMCAS screw-ups this year? i mean. . .i can't really count on the same results this year right? (cuz i don't think AMCAS will screw up so badly this year.)

do you have an idea as to what was lacking in your application? usually it's pretty obvious, lack of EC, grades, MCAT. unless you are a borderline applicant which would make it more challenging.
