Hello! I'm currently a freshman and I just took my second midterm for my Introduction to Global Health class (it's not a pre-med req but it's a prereq for my major concentration but I'm considering dropping that concentration at this point). I received a score that will make it nearly impossible for me to raise my grade to an A or even an A-, which is probably going to be detrimental to my overall GPA (first semester GPA was 3.85); there's also not going to be a curve for the class.
I'm not sure if I should just bite the bullet or opt to change this class to a pass/fail because medical schools don't really like seeing P/F on applicants' transcripts regardless of the whole COVID-19 shabang.

What do you guys think I should do? My parents are also going to be extremely upset when they see that I did not get all As because they were expecting me to get a 4.0 this semester....
I would like some concrete advice please.
Thank you so much guys 🙁😢

If you are guaranteed a B then I would take the B. Just kill the rest of your classes. It is still early in college and gave plenty of time to raise gpa!

Had to add some text to illustrate me point but you'll get over it. Anyways, stop stressing about a B or you'll become the kind of person who will retake a 513.

since it's not a premed req and not a major concentration course, you can go for P/F. No one will question one or two P/F or Ws. Try to keep GPA above 3.8.

Certain colleges limits number of P/F a student may have during UG. In current circumstances, colleges who forced P/F to students, classes are exempt from that count. Some colleges make it optional, student choice for a letter grade or P/F. You need to find out the policy for your school.
If everyone forced to P/F, you survived and dodged the bullet.
If you have an option to pick, go with whatever letter grade it may be, because P/F is your choice that will reflect in transcript accordingly, why spoiled lifeline for an irrelevant class?
