Hey all,

I've heard that if you had a bachelor degree, you will not qualify for the Federal Grant.... is it true? and also you won't be eligible for grants if attend a graduate program?? so are professional years of pharmacy considered a graduate or undergraduate program?

i'm not sure whether or not a bachelor degree will affect my financial aid eligibility?? what about attending an unaccredited pharmacy program (pharmacy program is unaccredited, but other health professions are accredited at this university)??

No, it's not true. I have a BS and have gotten financial aid every year in pharmacy school. It's considered a professional program. There are also other scholarships and grants that you can apply for through your pharmacy school.

A bigger question for me would by why are you attending an unaccredited pharmacy school? Is it because it is just too new for accreditation? Otherwise, it might be difficult to become licensed so you can work to pay off those loans.

It is true that you do not qualify for grants such as pell grant when doing graduate studies. This grant is only for undergraduates. The pharmD program is considered graduate.

some programs classify their P1's as "undergraduates" and P2-P4 as "graduate"... schools can classify them however they want. You should check with your school as to what your classification will be, but you should be able to get student loans of some type no matter what the classification is.

thanks all,

just to clarify- so most of pharmacy students don't get Pell Grant if the school classifies it as a "graduate" program? but you'll be eligible for loans regardless of the accreditation of the school?

do you get any other financial aid besides loans while in pharmacy school?
