Hello all,
I am wondering if you can help me make a decision as far as which school is better to attend.

School 1
Pros:
-Lower cost of attendance ~80k-85/year
-Smaller class size
-friendly administration
- Dorm facilities make living situation simple and easy

Cons:
- I'm scared of the flipped classroom. I feel worried I will procrastinate.
-Far away from friends in City.
-New school, worried about quality of rotations at the hospitals.
- Unknown reputation to residency programs
- everything is done on a computer, I'm worried about my eyes being strained

School 2
Pros:
-Closer to cool city
-strong reputation amongst residency programs
-Strong strong network of clinical teaching sites.
-I know other students at the school, they could give me tips.
-Traditional classroom style, they give you all of your notes, printed out on the first day of each unit.

Cons:
-Super High Cost of Attendance (90-98k/year)
- big class size
- I've heard rumors of a high attrition rate here. And I've heard rumors of the staff being ruthless at times
- I will have to drive 15 min everyday to/from school.

Dont be like my exes and allow $$$ to be a major factor.

School #2 FTW.
Interesting, if I could go back I would do whatever possible to get into/choose a cheaper school. It never crossed my mind before I started, but crushing debt is crushing. Then again I also see the merit of going to more established schools. OP will have to decide how important each is to them.

both are private DO schools in the USA.

As of now I'm leaning towards #1 due to cost and due to the convenient living situation

Let me guess, Touro NY- Middletown vs. NYCOM? If so, NYCOM's high attrition isn't a rumor, it's a reality.

That plus the fact that NYCOM is $10-15K more expensive per year would really give me pause.

Are you really worried about procrastination with Touro Middletown's flipped classroom model- isn't taking out 80-85K in loans a year enough incentive not to do that? NYCOM doesn't require mandatory attendance so you could hypothetically just skip out on all the lectures, why aren't you worried about procrastination there?

Both NYCOM and Touro Middletown are far from nyc at 1 hr and 1.5 hr, respectively. Realistically, you would be taking the train in to the city from both schools.

I don't know enough about quality of rotations to make a judgement there. I do know that NYCOM has been around longer and it's pretty well established in the the tristate area.

Ultimately it comes down to are you willing to pay an extra 60K (+ interest) to avoid going to a new school?
I personally would rather save the money, NYCOM is not that much better in my mind. I say Touro Middletown.

Taking the train to nycom is not realistic. The commute is about 2 hrs if you do. PM me if you want more info about nycom

From what I heard the attrition at nycom isn't something to be worried about.

OP I would go with option B despite cost. I would hesitate to go with a les established option

Con: driving 15 min to and from school??? Lol
That is definitely a first world burden.
School number 1 for sure then...
