Are you applying allopathic as well? How many schools do you want to apply to? With those stats, you have a very, very good shot at any DO school. I would pick based on cost/location. Where do you want to live for the next 4 years?

Some well established schools include PCOM, CCOM, MSUCOM, DMU, NOVA, OUHCOM

Keep in mind there are 3 touro campuses (NY, Las Vegas, California)

Strongly believe you can get into MD somewhere next season, kind of late for this season

@ Waggles: I'm applying to a total of 30 schools. 25 MD. 5 DO. I have a separate thread for allopathic schools.

Gotcha. I would add PCOM for sure, and then perhaps decide the last 2 depending on what region of the country you like. The problem with CCOM and MSUCOM are that tuition are outrageous. With that said, as long as you apply early and broadly, and don't have any red flags, you should have no problem getting into an MD school.

Rowan SOM formerly UMDNJ. Our stats are equal to in state allo, we have a great match list including Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Dartmouth, etc. grads match into every specialty (or almost all). Good luck!

If I had no regional preference, i would go with the school in Ohio (OU COM?) and TCOM. These schools both have their own medical centers. Touro-Middletown also does, but it is too new for my taste.

I think you'd be safe only applying to 2 DO schools as backups. But I think you'll get into an MD program.

Apply to as many places as possible or as many as your bank account can handle, MD or DO. you can always cancel interviews later but better to have more options than less, even with solid stats like yours. New York schools are notoriously competitive especially for In-state applicants.

My cynical answer would be Zero DO schools and do all MDs.

An actual helpful answer would be a little different than what others are offering.

I's say apply to DO schools in different regions of the country.

Scratch TouroCOM

1) NYITCOM for NY region
2) Nova SoutheasternU for Florida region
3) PCOM for Philly region
4) CCOM for Midwest region
5) WesternU-COMP for California region.

Those are just about the best DO schools in each major region for you to choose from.

I agree with CSqueed's list.

NYCOM, PCOM, COMP, CCOM, and maybe Nova.

I'd throw in Touro-NY if you want to increase the chance of being in NYC, and probably cross off CCOM, since OP mentioned tuition being prohibitively high.

I would only apply to Rowan-SOM (formerly UMDNJ) if you are a NJ resident.

Then I'd throw 25-35 MD primaries/secondaries out there early and broadly, and see what happens.

With those stats apply MD only. If by October or November you have zero interviews then consider adding the two NY DO schools which you are a shoe-in for. Don't let the sensationalism and DO bias on sdn get to you. With your stats (especially the 34 MCAT) there is absolutely no reason that you should even be considering DO schools.

Bwahahahaha!! Did I just read that right? DO bias? Everyone here is telling OP to apply MD mainly, the OP is explicitly asking for DO schools for his/her list. There's nothing wrong with applying to a couple DO schools as backup. A lot of the better DO schools fill up early, so not applying until November means not having secondaries in until December. That's honestly a bit late for the best DO schools.

Don't bet on it. I was accepted to two DO programs before I even got my first MD acceptance. MD is hyper competitive these days
